Right Education

Education provides the mental strength needed to improve our lives. It helps us understand complex concepts through various theories. However, the aim of education should not be solely to memorize theories in a particular subject; there must also be practical applications of the concepts and abstract ideas we learn. Practical skills, such as how to build a machine, cure an illness, and control inflation, are just as important as acquiring theoretical knowledge.

The saying "rather than giving a person a fish, it is more sustainable to teach them how to fish" effectively highlights the importance of acquiring practical skills. Many students find themselves in uncertain situations when entering the job market or starting their careers. Even if they achieve high grades in their studies, they often lack the skills necessary for their professional growth.

In the past, mathematics, biology, physics, and astronomy were taught through experimentation. Students who studied mathematics practiced it in markets, offices, and trades, helping their parents and neighbors. Similarly, other natural sciences were learned through experimentation and practice.

Education is a means to an end, with the ultimate goal of improving society. Ideas and theories expand our minds, allowing us to contemplate both intangible concepts and tangible objects. The ability to apply our ideas and knowledge in the physical world is just as crucial as acquiring theoretical knowledge. A skilled population contributes to a vibrant and healthy society.

China has experienced extraordinary development over the past few centuries, and one of the key factors behind its success is the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Most students engage in research that addresses real-world problems and challenges, thereby testing their knowledge in practical scenarios.

In conclusion, education without skill sets is a waste of resources and time. A student equipped with practical skills can greatly benefit society, while a student who only learns theories may resort to shortcuts and loopholes to achieve a better life.
